The origins of chindi weaving come from a humble place. Historically, women began upcycling old cotton clothing, creating useful items for their homes to save money and resources. Now, cotton scraps and sustainable jute fibers are woven together and sewn to create everything from rugs and baskets, to trivets.

Since 2006, customer purchases have made it possible for us to complete more than 50 important community development projects for artisan groups in India. This includes solar panel installations, water conservation initiatives, vocational workshops, and access to healthcare. Plus, we’ve built kilns to ensure safer production of goods.
We work closely with our artisan groups to ensure they have safe workspaces to practice their craft. As an environmentally friendly company, we also work to improve their creative process. The goal is to eliminate artists' exposure to toxins, reduce water and fuel waste, and rely on natural/upcycled materials.
